Today’s beauty post is all about a super easy to make 3 ingredient homemade body scrub recipe! This is my go to recipe. I make it all of the time and use it that much as well. This recipe uses sugar, coconut oil and a few essential oils. First let’s break down the benefits of each ingredient.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is such a versatile oil. I use it so much on my body and for cooking. You have the option to use any oil that you would like. Avocado oil, olive oil, jojoba oil are all great options as well. The oil acts as the moisturizing agent.
Coconut oil can leave your feeling a bit oily, if that is something that bothers you the I would use jojoba oil or another fast absorbing oil in place of the coconut oil.
Also, coconut oil is known to be comedogenic, meaning it can clog your pore on your face. I don’t have a problem with it and use it nightly to take off my eye makeup. It helps moisturize my eyes and eyelashes. I’ve noticed that my eyelashes are longer since using this method.
Sugar
In this recipe, I most often use regular sugar. You could also use brown sugar, raw sugar, and even superfine sugar. The sugar acts as a gentle exfoliating agent. When using for your body you have the option to use raw sugar since the skin on your body is different than the skin on your face.
Essential Oils
I have been using essential oils for about 4 years. They are amazing! There are so many benefits of aromatherapy. I also have so many stories about times I was ill or when my kids were ill and using essential oils help aid our ills. Essential oils can be used several ways to receive their benefits.
They can be used topically on your skin, though some are so strong they need to be diluted. They can use ingested, this applies only to certain oils. Essential oils can also be used through your sense of smell.
I like to use essential oils that have a calming effect such as lavender. One of my most favorite essential oil is peppermint oil. I have used it many times in this recipe.
I would recommend using either lavender, lemon, lime, orange, peppermint, rosehip, or frankincense oil. If you are more fond with essential oils you can also use what ever combination of oils that you would like.
For this recipe, I normally keep it simple and use lavender oil, but if I feel like spicing things up I have been known to use peppermint and frankincense oil. Peppermint oil would be great if you use the recipe as a foot scrub.
Lavender promotes calmness and tranquility as well as sleep. Frankincense dates back into history. It has great effects on the skin and can help with cell regeneration. It also helps with fine lines and is a great anti-aging oil.
Lemon, lime, and orange oils help with clarity and alertness. If you are more fond of fruity scents these are your best options.
Where to buy essential oils
I use premium grade essential oils, but you can purchase them from a variety of places. Amazon, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx all sell essential oils at a low cost.
RECIPE

Mix first 2 ingredients together and then add your essential oils to the mix and Voila, You’re done. Easy peasy! You can add more oil if you want a wetter constancy.
Once I have that all done I add the mixture to these cute jars.
