Galentines staycation recap plus hotel review

We just had the best Galentines staycation this past weekend! A few of us had the opportunity to have a staycation at Intercontinental Houston. My friend Michelle @beautylifecoach invited me to her Galentines staycation.

The Galentines Stay at Intercontinental Houston as well as the Pjs from Soma Intimates were gifted to all of us. The food from Mendocino Farms & Safina was also gifted as well. All of these opinions are my own.

We started off meeting at Intercontinental Houston Hotel on Friday night. We all met up got our room keys & toured our rooms.

Intercontiental Houston Hotel

Intercontinental Houston is located in the medical center just minutes away from Downtown Houston. This would be a great hotel to stay at if you are visiting Houston. These are just a few tourist stops around the area:

• The Museum district- less than 5 minutes away
• NRG Stadium for Rodeo Houston, Texans, Disney on Ice, Nutcracker market & more depending on when you visit.
• Rice Village: Outdoor shopping and good food- I recommend Torchy’s tacos or The Black Walnut Cafe
• Medical Center: If you are visiting a loved one in the hospital.

Intercontinental Houston is such a pretty hotel! When you walk in you will see the staff ready to assist you. To the right there is a bar and lounge area. We all sat down for drinks and I of course had to order fries. These fries were amazing! They were thin and crispy.

There is also a restaurant near the lounge called Safina. More about this below.

After drinks, we went back upstairs to change into our pajamas and hang out.

Soma Intimates Pajamas

We were blessed by Soma Intimates with these cute pajamas. They are so incredibly soft! They come with an option for shorts or pants. I choose shorts since I prefer to have fitted pajama pants.

All of the girls received a pair of the cool nights festive dot pajamas. They have a cute polka dot print on them as well as a draw string tie at the waist. They were definitely a crowd favorite.

Staycation

As a mom, I appreciate a fun staycation with my gal gang. Gal gang includes Michelle @beautylifecoach, Eliana @gembeauties, Nicole @lipstickandbrunch, Alley @lifeofalley, Any @anygonzalez, Becky @bexmo28 & Mely @allthingsmely (she had to get back home, but spent the evening with us.) We had so much fun! We were laughing our bums off.

One of my favorite things was we also talked about our 2020 goals. Get yourself some girlfriends that lift you up and push you to be your best self.

On Friday night after we ate this delicious dinner provided by Mendocino Farms. We headed to the bar area and hung out, some girls ordered drinks, I ordered fries, it was a good time.

While we were down there, a police on a motorcycle pulled up with his lights on. I was wondering what was going on. Then these huge bodyguard men came and stood near us. I was thinking that’s strange??

Well, the USA women’s soccer team entered the building and headed to the elevators!! They had just won a game in Houston. It was really cool to stay in the same hotel the same night they were.

After we went back to the lavender suite, we took some group pictures and since we are bloggers, we have to be extra and made slo-mo videos too!

Then we decided to be adventurous and learn a TikTok dance. We stayed up till 1am trying to learn it and then when it was too hard decided we would make an easier TikTok in the morning. Shameless plug: Follow me on TikTok @jennimetz

The next morning we he hired a professional photographer, Arzu Vargas Photography to take our pictures. We then made our TikTok.. I was determined to make one. Here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Next was Brunch.

Brunch at Safina

We had a brunch appointment with the hotel restaurant Safina. Safina is located inside of Intercontinental Houston. It is so pretty inside!

We were offered a special pancake brunch item. It was topped with bananas and garnished with other berries.

If you aren’t aware, I have been having reactions to gluten and dairy for the last couple of years. This makes it difficult to eat out and usually when I go to blogger brunches, I stick to fruits and veggies or a salad. There are some times though were the menu is set and that makes it hard for me to eat. I usually just end up skipping out.

Well, the chef came to introduce himself and I pulled him aside and told him about my dietary needs. He said let me see what I can whip up and left. Y’all, he made me gluten free and dairy free pancakes just like my friends had all received! I was so happy. That means so much to me!! They were delicious too.

We had so much fun being hosted by Intercontinental Houston. I highly recommend staying there for a staycation if you are a Houstonian or a vacation if you are wanting to travel here. They were so hospitable and everything was amazing!

What to do on you Galentines Staycation

• Bring some face mask and pamper yourselves.
• Board games are always so much fun.
• Have a movie night in. Order room service for snacks.
• Talk about your goals (this is what we did). Encourage each other.
• Be silly and make TikTok videos or pictures for the gram.
• Go out for drinks.
• Order a in house nail service such as Cherry app.
• Have a karaoke sing off.

I hope you consider getting your girlfriends together for Galentines staycation. It is a much needed refreshment for the soul, especially for mamas. I came back feeling refreshed and ready to be my best self for my family.
