Summer break is headed our way, with less than a week of school if you are like me you’ve been planning all of the fun activities for the kids this summer. One place to add to your list is Splashway Waterpark and Campgrounds. We recently had the opportunity to visit Splashway and y’all this place is the epitome of family fun memories. Where is Splashway Waterpark & Campgrounds located?
Location: 5211 Main st. Sheridan, TX 77475
Splashway is located in Sheridan, TX which is about a 2 hour drive from Houston depending on what part of Houston you are coming from. Basically what that means is the hour drive out of Houston then an hour more after that. Local Houstonians will understand this feat. The drive is about 88 miles from Houston.
What to do at Splashway?
There is so much to do at Splashway waterpark and campgrounds. If you are staying overnight, you have access to many different amenities that are included in your stay. There are also other activities that can be done at an additional fee such as laser tag. Each week they have a new schedule of events that are happening at Splashway campgrounds. These include scheduled outdoor movie nights, kid’s activities in the community center, such as craft time. You can obtain a copy of this schedule from guest services.
Here is a list of a few activities that you can enjoy at Splashway. They are included with your stay:
- Playgrounds located throughout the campgrounds
- Horseshoe
- Corn hole
- Sand pit for the kids
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Outdoor movies on a jumbo screen
- The jump pad: oversided jumping inflatable for the kids
- Tether-ball
- Giant sized chess and checkers games
- Fishing (poles available for rent)
Activities that can be purchased at an additional fee
- Golf cart rental
- fishing rod rental (if needed)
- Paddleboard rental
- Laser tag
- Mini golf
- Water park tickets
- Pedal cart rental
- Ball rental
As you can see there are so many activities for families to enjoy at Splashway’s campgrounds. My boys loved playing on the playgrounds and meeting new friends. I loved that there is so much to do! There is no boredom to be found here. We loved hanging around the campgrounds after the water park closed.
Lodging at Splashway
If you are planning on staying overnight at Splashway, you have a few options to choose from. Firstly, you can rent a cabin or a cottage. We were able to stay in a cabin during our time there. The cabin comes with a full kitchen and the utensils needed for making meals indoors. The cabin has a primary bedroom, a full bathroom, with a shower/bath combo, and upstairs you will find 4 full/queen mattresses for guest to sleep on. There is even an option for an additional air mattress to be used in the living room area.
The front of the cabin has a couch and a small table. It also has a TV. There is no wifi in the cabins but if you go to the main area where the mini golf and general store are you can hop of the wifi there. The cabin comes with AC which is amazing especially in the summer months. Up to 12 people can sleep in the cabins. Check in time for the cabins and cottages is 3pm and check out time is 11am. Early and late check out are available upon request, based on availability.
Cabin amenities
If you love roasting marshmallows by the fire, you will be happy to know that each campsite comes with a fire pit. These can be used for a sitting by the campfire, making a camping favorite: S’mores. They can also be used for grilling and cooking. Campfire supplies are available to purchase at the Splashway Camp Store. We were able to pick up fire wood and fire starters at the Camp Store.
Near your camp fire site there is a wooden picnic table for each cabin. I am uncertain whether or not the cottages come with this amenity as well. We brought a disposable tablecloth and also brought some hot dogs to grill.
Lastly, if you have an RV you will be please to know that there are RV site that can be booked as well. Tent campers are welcome as well!
Need to know information
Splashway offers a splash cash wristband that has a qr code on it. You can load your money on the the wristband and not have to worry about carrying your money around which is amazing when you are at the waterpark. Did you know you can use your splash cash throughout the campground and water park?
The water park tickets are not included with your overnight camp stay. These can be purchased online, at the Splashway water park or in the camp store on site. The camp store offers a variety of items that you might need for your stay, should you forget to bring something. They even have a mini wine section as well.
Summery and Review
Splashway is a water park and campground that is located in Sheridan, Texas. It is a great place for families to gather and bond. Splashway is about an 2 hour drive from Houston. There is so much to do at the campgrounds from fishing, to laser tag. There is fun for all ages. I highly recommend visiting Splashway for your next family trip.
We had so much fun at Splashway! We are now splashway fans and are planning to visit often. What I loved about the campgrounds is how family friendly it is. I had no worries letting my boys play at the playground near our cabin. As parents, we felt safe letting them play there with the other kids while enjoying a campfire at night. The place is built with families in mind and we truly had a blast at Splashway.
