The Spanx faux leather leggings are my absolute favorite but these styles can be worn with any pair of legging that you may own (as long as they aren’t the see through kind). I have had my Spanx for several years now and I love pulling them out each time the temps (finally) decide to drop down! Spanx Sizing: What’s the best fit?
First up a word about sizing. I bought my regular size small in these even though I have seen many say to size up. Even the Spanx website recommends sizing up. I haven’t tried a size up which would be a medium yet, but the small seems to fit me well and I don’t feel uncomfortable at all. You need to know that these are shape wear too so they are made to fit snugly so suck in all the goods.
They also offer petite sizes as well as maternity. I am 5’6″ and I purchased a regular small. They fit me good and true to size. I would say if you are shorter I would consider the petite sizing.
Should I buy Spanx or another brand?
Personally, I love these faux leather leggings because they are thicker which means they pass the squat test. No worries about them being see-through since they are thicker. That being said they are thicker and I only wear them in the fall and winter due to the fact that I would be sweating in the summer with these. That Texas heat y’all is no joke!
I have not found another comparable faux leather legging but I will link a few other good options as well. I would think the biggest difference would be the thickness.
To be honest, at first I wasn’t a fan. Once something is talked about so much it tends to feel exaggerated so I my initial thoughts were meh, but as I wore them more I fell in love with them. They are so comfortable and flattering.
I’d much rather wear Spanx faux leather leggings any day over jeans and pants.
Update: I found a major dupe! The only difference is the the waistband isn’t as snug, but other than that they are great! All of these styles will work with any pair of leather leggings. There are so many leather legging outfits variations! Let’s dive in.
Style Spanx faux leather leggings with a sweater
This is by far one of my most favorite ways to style my Spanx faux leather leggings. I love being able to throw on a sweater and a pair of shoes and head out the door. Over sized sweaters are my jam! As much as I love layering, in Houston it’s often not cool enough to layer comfortably; so being able to throw on a cute sweater and a pair of leggings is a dream!

Leather leggings outfit: Christmas sweater and knee high boots
This is a cute way to wear them over the Christmas holiday. Pair your Spanx faux leather leggings with your favorite ugly or cute Christmas sweater and some over the knee boots. This particular sweater is sold out but any one that you own would work.
Wear your faux leather leggings with a lace camisole, poncho or scarf, and hat
Here is an easy way to style your spanx faux leather leggings, take any poncho or over sized scarf that you may have and drape it over your shoulders. Waffle knit sweater, hat, and knee high boots
Give me all of the waffle knit sweaters! Here’s why I love them: Since Houston is so hot most of the year and our fall season is usually cooler in the mornings and evenings and too hot to wear sweaters in the midday hours; waffle knit sweaters are breathable and great for this type of weather. If you have read my 12 wardrobe staples post then you will know that a chambray button down shirt has mad the list. There are endless ways to style them! Here, I styled them with my leggings and a pair of sneakers. I added a lightweight sweater for a trip to the park with the kids. Where are my mom friends at? Sneakers are a must with little ones.
This vest is an amazon find. It is soft on the outside but not on the inside. It is lightweight perfect for Texas fall.

Spanx outfit ideas number?? I lost count. I love mixing prints for fall. I styled this leggings outfit with a plaid button down and a herringbone vest. For this look, I styled it with some suede knee high boots, but this outfit would look so cute with a pair of hunter rain boots as well. These are on sale right now for the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I own 2 pairs of the tall style and love them!
