3 day Detox + recipes

Last Thursday I shared on my instastories that I was doing a 3 day detox cleanse. I hope you were able to catch it! I have had this download on my computer for a long time and while I was cleaning off my laptop I came across it again. Prior to doing the cleanse I had been feeling so sick. I had gotten ill and needed antibiotics and at the same time my kids got sick with a stomach bug, so naturally I got it as well. The only thing though was mine seemed to stick around. I was feeling pretty miserable every time I ate and I was so tired of already. Luckily, I found the detox and a partner in crime to do it at the same time with me too.

I got the detox from a website that used to be called skinnymom.com but that site no longer exist.

In a nutshell, they give you a grocery list of things to buy, I bought mostly organic foods. It came out to about $80. I later realized that I bought too much almond milk (you only need 1 half gallon), I also had a lot of leftover flax seeds and pineapple. It states that all you need is a blender, I have a ninja blender but I know that a Vitamix blender would have been way better. Some of the drinks were chunky. The detox is the same all 3 days. You mix the same recipes for each drink daily for 3 days. You are allowed 1 very small snack. You will also need supplements. I already had probiotics and a multivitamin, so I only needed to buy the omega-3s supplement.

The detox went well. The first day was really easy. I didn’t even feel hungry at all. The second day though started to get to me. I also noticed that the last detox drink made me feel sick each night after taking it. I am not sure if this was because I was already sick still or if it was the mixture of ingredients that made me feel nauseous. Know that I omitted that drink on the final night and instead I ate most of the ingredients.

On the last day, I did start to feel lightheaded and really really hungry! I decided I needed to eat something and instead of waiting for my snack time, I went ahead and ate that one earlier. I was careful to chew every bite to its fullest so that my body didn’t have to work so hard to digest the foods.

Here’s how I benefited from this detox:

  1. I noticed a decrease in appetite when it came time to eat. I got fuller faster and I had eaten less food because of it.
  2. I had been very bloated and while on the detox, I noticed that the bloating had been resolved with the smoothies.
  3. I got better! I no longer feel sick to my stomach anymore!!
  4. I had a better sense of self. I was proud of myself for taking on this challenge and doing something good for my body.
  5. I had eaten so many vegetables and fruits then I had in the previous days.

This was my first detox ever. I will definitely be doing more in the future. My goal is to buy a juicer and do a juice cleanse.

Have you ever done a detox/cleanse?

How did you like it?

Jenni
